BEAVERCREEK -- Beavercreek City Schools Board of Education took the next crucial step toward the construction of two schools on Friday, May 14, with the purchase of a 50-acre parcel of land from the Nutter family.

The schools now owns the land at Dayton-Xenia and Ankeney roads in Beavercreek Twp. after paying $25,500 per acre. It will be the site for a middle school and a elementary school.

Voters approved an $84 million bond issue in November 2008 to build and renovate schools in the growing district that is experiencing overcrowding problems.

While renovations of existing schools began nearly a year ago, construction of the new schools encountered problems.

After negotiations with Nutter over another property in the heart of the planned Stonehill Village community failed, the district waited months for a rezoning request to be approved on the Ankeney property.

Township trustees approved the zoning change, removing the land from the Stonehill Village development on April 12.

Scholl board President Peg Arnold said the district is thrilled to be moving forward with a preliminary site plan, which will be presented to the zoning commission in the next Jimmy choo shoes six weeks.
