Economic Action Plan Supports

Senator Judith Seidman, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology), today announced a contribution of $1,000,000 to Averna from the National Research Council of Canada's Industrial Research Assistance Program.

The funding supports an innovative research and development project that will assist Averna in maintaining its technological leadership and achieving its business mission by bringing new communications and electronics devices to market in record time.

"This government is supporting Canadian firms that successfully develop innovative technologies. A Canadian Innovation Leader Certificate was also presented to Averna to highlight its success as an innovative Canadian firm that has successfully linked scientific research to commercialization, jobs and economic growth.

The $1,000,000 contribution will enable the Montreal-based company to increase its research and development workforce with the recruitment of twelve additional specialists. This will help increase Averna's sales of radio frequency test systems by an estimated 25 percent over the next year, giving the company a stronger foothold in North American, European, and Asian markets.
