Council blames Apple for flood

SCOTTISH Water officials have apologised for flooding on a Scottish road - after failing to spot the problems were caused by an apple.

Residents of Glensburgh Road in Grangemouth, Falkirk, have been blighted by flooding for more than 30 Alexander mcqueen years.

Now, Scottish Water says recent problems have been caused by an apple which got stuck in Alexander mcqueen a valve, causing water from the nearby River Carron to overload the drainage system - although they are unsure how Alexander mcqueen long the apple has been there.

Scottish Water yesterday apologised for not spotting the apple sooner, and said that steps were being taken to deal with the problem once and for all.

A spokesman said: "A network investigation has taken place in the affected area of Glensburgh Road.

"We discovered that a valve was blocked open by an apple and this was causing water from the river to enter our waste water network and overload the pipe leading to flooding nearby. Our network analyst for the area has identified a more efficient and reliable valve that we are in the process of installing.

"If the problem persists, we have alternate solutions that can be explored.

"Our aim is to permanently remove the flooding risk and apologise for any inconvenience to residents."
